Enter some text to see how often each word appears.
Exports include every word in the current view (search and sort applied).
Paste any text and get a ranked list of every word in it with how many times it appears and what share of the text it makes up. It is a quick way to spot words you overuse in an essay, check the vocabulary of a document, or prepare a word list for study.
Counting follows the same word rules as our Word Counter: punctuation and emoji are ignored, contractions and hyphenated words stay whole, and accented letters are handled correctly. You can search the list, sort it alphabetically and export it as CSV for a spreadsheet. Your text stays in your browser.

- STEP 03
Explore and export
Search or sort the list, then copy it as plain text or CSV, or download a CSV file.

Reading your results
A few things the numbers can tell you:
- Total words is the number of words counted after your filters; Unique words is how many different words appear.
- The share column shows each word's percentage of the total, so you can compare texts of different lengths.
- Used once counts words that appear exactly one time. A high number usually means a varied vocabulary.
- Small function words such as “the”, “and” and “of” are normally at the top. Raise the minimum length to focus on content words.
Frequently asked questions
How does the word frequency counter decide what a word is?
Words are runs of letters or numbers. Punctuation, symbols and emoji are not words, contractions like “don't” count as one word, and hyphenated words like “well-known” stay together.
Are uppercase and lowercase words counted together?
Yes, by default “The” and “the” are merged and shown in lowercase. Turn on “Case sensitive” to count them separately.
How do I ignore words like “a”, “an” and “the”?
Set a minimum word length, for example 4+ characters, to hide most short function words while keeping the longer words that carry meaning.
Can I export the results to Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes. Use Copy CSV and paste into a sheet, or Download CSV to get a file with word, count and percent columns.
Does it work with languages other than English?
Yes. Words are detected with Unicode-aware rules, so accented languages work, and Chinese and Japanese text is split into words using your browser's built-in dictionary.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Counting happens in your browser, and very long texts are processed in a background thread on your device.
