Removed words
No repeated words found.
Remove repeated words from any text in one step. Paste a keyword list, a set of tags or a paragraph, and every word after its first use is removed, with commas and spaces tidied up so the result reads cleanly.
Switch to back-to-back mode to catch accidental repeats such as “the the” or “very very” while leaving normal text alone. You can ignore or respect letter case, and treat each line as its own list. Everything runs in your browser.
How to remove duplicate words
- STEP 01
Paste your text
Paste keywords, tags, a list or regular text. Results appear below as you type.
- STEP 02

Remove all repeats to deduplicate a list, or back-to-back repeats only to proofread prose.
- STEP 03
Copy the clean text
Review the removed words, then copy or download the result.
Features
Keeps the first occurrence
Each word stays where it first appears; only later copies are removed, so the order is unchanged.
Fixes “the the” typos
Back-to-back mode removes words repeated right after each other without touching the rest.
Clean punctuation
Commas, semicolons and spaces around removed words are merged, so lists stay neat.
Line-by-line option
Treat each line separately when every line is its own keyword or tag group.
Smart word matching
Contractions, hyphenated words and accented letters are handled as whole words.
Removal report
See how many words were removed and which words were repeated most.
Examples
What each mode does:
- All repeats: “seo, marketing, SEO, content, marketing” becomes “seo, marketing, content”.
- Back-to-back only: “I saw the the movie” becomes “I saw the movie”.
- Back-to-back only leaves “It ended. It began.” unchanged, because the words are separated by punctuation.
- Each line separately: “red blue red” and “red green” on two lines become “red blue” and “red green”.
Frequently asked questions
How do I remove duplicate words from a list?
Paste the list and keep the default All repeats mode. Each word is kept once, at its first position, and separators like commas are cleaned up.
How do I find accidental repeated words like “the the”?
Choose Back-to-back only. It removes a word only when it repeats immediately after itself, which is the typical typo.
Are “Word” and “word” treated as duplicates?
Yes by default. Turn on Case sensitive if capitalized and lowercase words should be kept separately.
Will it remove repeated short words like “a” and “the” in normal text?
In All repeats mode, yes, because every repeated word is removed. That is ideal for lists but not for prose; use Back-to-back only for normal sentences.
What is the difference from Remove Duplicate Lines?
This tool removes repeated words inside your text. To remove whole lines that appear more than once, use our Remove Duplicate Lines tool.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Duplicate words are removed in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
