Type text to turn it into Morse code, or paste dots and dashes to read them as text. The translator detects which way to go automatically, supports letters, numbers, punctuation and common accented letters, and keeps your line breaks.
Hear the result with the built-in player using standard timing, adjust the speed from 5 to 40 words per minute and the tone pitch, or download the audio as a WAV file. A full chart of the International Morse Code alphabet is included for reference. Everything, including the sound, is generated in your browser.

How Morse code timing works
International Morse Code is built from a single time unit. A dot lasts one unit and a dash three. Symbols within a letter are separated by one unit of silence, letters by three units and words by seven.
Speed is measured in words per minute using the standard word “PARIS”, which is exactly 50 units long. At 20 WPM one unit lasts 60 milliseconds. Beginners often learn at 5–15 WPM; experienced operators commonly send 20–30 WPM or faster.
Frequently asked questions
How do I write Morse code so it can be decoded?
Use . for a dot and - for a dash, put a space between letters and a / (or three spaces) between words, for example .... .. / - .... . .-. . for HI THERE.
What is SOS in Morse code?
... --- ... — three dots, three dashes, three dots. It is traditionally sent as one continuous signal without letter gaps.
What happens to characters without a Morse code?
They are skipped and listed above the result, so you can see what was left out. When decoding, unknown codes are shown as in the text.
Why are letters shown in capitals?
Morse code has no upper or lower case, so decoded text is written in capitals, which is the usual convention.
Can I change the playback speed?
Yes. Move the Speed slider between 5 and 40 words per minute. The audio length updates as you change it.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Translation and audio are generated in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to a server.
