Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled when you visit textnex.com (“TextNEX”, “we”, “us”) and use its online text tools, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using the website you agree to the practices described here.

Summary

  • Your text never leaves your device. Every tool runs in your browser. We do not upload, store, read or sell the text you type or paste.
  • We do not require an account and do not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details.
  • TextNEX is free and may be supported by advertising from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads, as explained below, and you can opt out of personalized advertising.
  • Like every website, our hosting server keeps short-lived technical logs for security and reliability.

Text you enter into the tools

All processing (counting, converting, cleaning, sorting, comparing, extracting and so on) is performed with JavaScript on your own device. The text you enter is not transmitted to our servers or to any third party, it is not saved in cookies or browser storage, and it is gone when you clear the editor or close the page. Files you download, such as a cleaned text file or a Morse code WAV file, are created in your browser and saved directly to your device.

A few features interact with your browser or operating system, always at your request:

  • Clipboard. The Paste button asks your browser for permission to read the clipboard. It is read only when you press the button, and the content is placed into the editor on your device. Copy buttons write the result to your clipboard.
  • Text to Speech. The Text to Speech tool uses voices provided by your browser and operating system. By default only on-device voices are listed. If you choose to enable online voices, your browser sends the text being read to its voice provider (for example Google or Microsoft) under that provider’s privacy policy. TextNEX never receives that text.

Information collected automatically

When you load a page, the server that hosts TextNEX receives standard technical information that every browser sends, such as your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring page, the page requested, and the date and time of the request. This information is recorded in server logs and is used only to deliver the website, keep it secure, prevent abuse and diagnose errors. Server logs never contain the text you enter into a tool, because that text is never sent to the server.

We do not use analytics services, session recording, fingerprinting or tracking pixels of our own.

Cookies and local storage

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by a website. TextNEX itself does not set any cookies. We store one setting in your browser’s local storage: your theme preference (Light, Dark or System), so the site looks the way you chose on your next visit. It contains no personal information and you can remove it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.

When advertising is shown, cookies and similar technologies may be set by Google and its advertising partners, as described in the next section. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the text tools continue to work without them.

Advertising and Google AdSense

To keep TextNEX free, we may display advertisements served by Google AdSense, a service provided by Google LLC. When ads are shown:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Ad partners may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser identifiers, and the pages you view, to select, measure and limit the frequency of ads, and to detect fraud. They do not receive the text you enter into our tools.
  • Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads or non-essential advertising cookies are used, through a consent message that complies with Google’s EU User Consent Policy. You can change your choice at any time through the same message or your browser settings.

You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and about Google’s advertising cookies at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Your choices and opt-out

  • You may opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings. If you opt out, you may still see ads, but they will not be personalized.
  • You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices (United States) or youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
  • Most browsers let you block third-party cookies, delete existing cookies, or send a “Global Privacy Control” signal. Using the tools does not require cookies.

Third-party services and links

The fonts, icons and scripts that power the tools are served from our own domain; we do not load third-party font, analytics or social media scripts. Apart from advertising, TextNEX does not share information with third parties. Our pages may contain links to other websites, such as the policy pages listed above. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their policies.

Children’s privacy

TextNEX is a general-audience website and is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

Data retention and security

Because your text is processed locally, there is no text for us to retain or lose. Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting and are then deleted or rotated. The website is served only over HTTPS, which encrypts the connection between your browser and our server. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we keep the information we handle to a minimum.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, including under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information about you, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. We do not sell or share personal information for money. Because we do not hold accounts or the text you process, we usually have no personal information about you beyond short-lived server logs. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Requests relating to advertising cookies can also be made directly to Google through the links above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be reflected on this page before they take effect.
