In the text
Paste HTML from a web page, email template or CMS and get the text the way a reader sees it. Paragraphs and headings are separated by blank lines, <br> becomes a line break, lists become dashes or numbers, and tables become rows with tab-separated cells.
Scripts, styles and comments are dropped, entities like & and are decoded, and you can choose to keep link URLs and image alt text. The HTML is parsed as text in your browser and never executed or uploaded.

Features
Readable structure
Paragraphs, headings and blocks keep their spacing instead of running together like a simple tag strip.
Lists and nesting
Bullet lists, numbered lists (including start numbers) and nested lists with indentation.
Tables to rows
Each table row on its own line, cells separated by tabs for spreadsheets or pipes for reading.
Links and images
Optionally keep link targets as “text (URL)” and image alt text as [alt].
Entities decoded
&, , é, © and other references become real characters.
Safe and private
Markup is parsed as text, never rendered or run, and nothing leaves your browser.
HTML to text vs removing tags
Simply deleting tags joins text from different elements together: <p>One</p><p>Two</p> becomes “OneTwo”. This converter follows how browsers lay out HTML, so block elements start new lines, paragraphs are separated by a blank line and whitespace inside the source is collapsed.
If you need the exact original spacing with only the tags removed, or want to keep some tags, use our Remove HTML Tags tool instead.
Frequently asked questions
Is the HTML executed or loaded?
No. The HTML is read as text by a parser in your browser. Scripts never run, and images, styles or other resources are never loaded.
What happens to <script> and <style> content?
It is removed, along with the <head>, comments, templates and inline SVG, because none of it is visible text.
How are links converted?
By default only the link text is kept. Turn on “Show link URLs” to add the address in brackets after the text. Anchor links (#…) and javascript: links are never added.
Can I paste HTML from an email?
Yes. HTML emails often use tables for layout; their text is kept row by row. Turn on “Show link URLs” if you need the links from buttons and banners.
Why are there no extra blank lines in the result?
Whitespace is collapsed as a browser would display it, and at most one blank line separates blocks. Preformatted <pre> text keeps its exact spacing.
Is my HTML uploaded?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser.
