Put any list in order in a second. Paste names, keywords, file names or any other lines and get them sorted from A to Z or Z to A, ready to copy.

Natural sorting keeps numbers in the order people expect, so “chapter 2” comes before “chapter 10”. You can also sort by line length or shuffle the list, ignore case and indentation, and remove duplicates and empty lines in the same step. Sorting happens in your browser using your language's alphabet rules.

How to sort lines

  1. STEP 01

    Paste your list

Paste or type your items, one per line. The sorted list appears below immediately.

  2. STEP 02

    Choose how to sort

  3. STEP 03

    Copy the result

Optionally remove duplicates or empty lines, then copy or download the sorted list.

02

Features

  • Natural number order

Numbers inside lines are compared by value: file2 sorts before file10, not after it.

  • A → Z and Z → A

Switch between ascending and descending order with one click.

  • Sort by length or shuffle

Order lines from shortest to longest, or shuffle them randomly for draws and quizzes.

  • Accent-aware alphabet

Accented letters sort next to their base letter, so “École” sits between “eagle” and “fox”.

  • Clean up while sorting

Remove duplicates and empty lines, trim spaces, and ignore indentation when comparing.

  • Fast and private

Sorts 100,000 lines in a moment, entirely in your browser.

03

Natural vs. alphabetical sorting

Plain alphabetical sorting compares text character by character, which puts “item10” before “item2” because the character 1 comes before 2. Natural sorting reads the numbers as whole values instead:

  • Alphabetical: item1, item10, item11, item2, item3
  • Natural: item1, item2, item3, item10, item11
  • Use natural order for file names, chapters, versions and numbered lists; use alphabetical when you need strict character order, for example to match another program.

Frequently asked questions

How do I sort a list alphabetically?

Paste your list with one item per line. It is sorted from A to Z immediately; choose Z → A to reverse the order.

Why does item10 come after item9?

Natural sorting is on by default, so numbers are compared by value. Choose Alphabetical if you want strict character order, where item10 comes before item9.

Are uppercase and lowercase sorted together?

Yes by default, so “apple” and “Apple” sit next to each other. Turn on Case sensitive to place uppercase lines before lowercase ones.

Can I remove duplicates while sorting?

Yes. Turn on Remove duplicates to keep one copy of each line, ignoring case unless Case sensitive is on.

How do I shuffle lines randomly?

Choose Random under Sort by. Press Shuffle again for a new random order.

Is my list uploaded?

No. Sorting runs in your browser and your list never leaves your device.
