Clean up messy spacing in seconds. Paste text with double spaces, stray tabs, spaces at the start or end of lines, or too many empty lines, and get tidy text back instantly.

Beyond ordinary spaces, the tool also fixes the whitespace you cannot see: non-breaking and full-width spaces that look normal but break searches and formulas, and zero-width characters often left behind by copy and paste. Line breaks are kept exactly where they were, and everything runs in your browser.

Features

  • Double spaces removed

Any run of spaces becomes a single space, whether it is two spaces after a period or a long gap.

  • Trimmed lines

Leading and trailing spaces are removed from every line without touching the line breaks.

  • Tabs and special spaces

Tabs, non-breaking spaces, thin spaces and full-width spaces are converted to normal spaces.

  • Invisible characters

Zero-width spaces, word joiners and byte order marks are removed, while emoji stay intact.

  • Empty line control

Keep empty lines, reduce several in a row to one, or remove them completely.

  • Punctuation spacing

Optionally remove spaces before commas, periods and other punctuation.

03

Why text gets extra spaces

Extra whitespace usually sneaks in from:

  • Copying from PDFs and web pages, which often adds spaces at line ends and non-breaking spaces.
  • Old typing habits, like two spaces after a period.
  • Spreadsheets and code that use tabs for alignment.
  • Rich text editors and chat apps that insert zero-width characters you cannot see.
  • Hidden characters can make two identical-looking values fail to match in searches, formulas or code. Cleaning them fixes that.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove double spaces from text?

Paste your text. “Collapse repeated spaces” is on by default, so every run of two or more spaces becomes a single space.

Will it remove my line breaks or paragraphs?

No. Line breaks stay exactly where they were. Only empty lines are affected, and only if you choose Max one or Remove under Empty lines.

What is a non-breaking space and why convert it?

A non-breaking space looks like a normal space but is a different character, often copied from web pages. It can stop searches, formulas and code from matching text, so converting it to a normal space avoids surprises.

What are zero-width characters?

They are invisible characters that take up no space, such as zero-width spaces and byte order marks. They can break URLs, passwords and comparisons. The tool removes them but keeps the joiners that emoji need.

Can I keep indentation at the start of lines?

Yes. Turn off “Trim each line” to keep leading spaces. You may also want to turn off “Convert tabs to spaces” for tab-indented text.

Is my text uploaded?

No. The cleanup happens entirely in your browser.
